Dr. Leo Semkiw was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois for both his undergraduate education as well as his medical education. He completed his orthopedic residency at Stanford University Hospital. Dr. Semkiw then took a fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedics at Lucille Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford. He continued on as an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery for several years. Dr. Semkiw has been in practice now for over a decade, focusing on sports medicine, pediatric and general orthopedics.
Also practicing with Dr. Semkiw is Monica Sweet, PA-C. Monica graduated from Stanford University Medical Center Physician Assistant program in 1994. Since then, Monica has been practicing in the San Jose Area, primarily working in emergency medicine. She joined San Jose Sports Medicine and Orthopedics in 2000. Monica sees patients in the office and assists Dr. Semkiw in surgical procedures.
